Despite all ambulance services across the UK facing great pressures due to the current pandemic, First Care continues to maintain transportation target times. Healthcare is still available for routine and elective appointments and patient transport continues as usual whilst recognising all the Covid rules and restrictions.

Nightingale Hospital opens in Exeter

The Nightingale Hospital opened in Exeter on 26th November, set up to receive Coronavirus patients. First Care has been supporting, providing safe transport for patients requiring continuing care and those returning home. Nightingale has 116 beds and aims to take the pressure off local hospitals.

First Care responds to increasing numbers of C19 patients

A dedicated resource has always been in place for the safe transport of patients with C19 when being discharged from hospital. This resource has been doubled from 1st November 2020 in order to ensure that the maximum number of beds are available in our hospitals.

First Care steps up to support GP’s in North Devon

The NHS is preparing for winter and services will be stepped up to support increasing numbers of patients and the increase in Covid-19 cases.

First Care will be supporting across many areas. At the beginning of November a new service will start to support GP’s in North Devon. First Care Paramedics will make home visits to assess patients and provide GP’s with a comprehensive triage report. This service will allow GP’s to focus their time on meeting demand at Surgeries whilst ensuring that those patients who require home visits will continue to receive a timely and comprehensive service.

First Care Ambulance Services – 5 months of Covid-19

First Care are pleased and proud to inform customers that continuous safe ambulance transport has been provided throughout the last five months, supplying essential support to the NHS and vulnerable patients in need of safe transportation to hospitals and medical centres. The First Care team have been trained to a high standard, minimising the infection risk and protecting clients lives. PPE was swiftly sourced and introduced for staff and patients – in addition to this 5,000 masks and 50 litres of alcohol hand gel are being deployed each week.
